Google Cloud introduces a persistent Gemini agent for enterprise work
The new Gemini agent can operate across business systems, Workspace and developer tools, with persistent execution, subagents and enterprise controls.
AI / NEWS BRIEF
Claude Haiku 5.5 targets high-volume and latency-sensitive work, with prompt-length-based pricing starting at $0.10 per million input tokens.
Anthropic has released Claude Haiku 5.5 for high-volume tasks such as summarization, classification, database queries, live support and subagent work. For prompts up to 100,000 tokens, Claude Platform pricing is $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens. Longer prompts cost $0.50 per million input tokens and $2.50 per million output tokens. The model identifier is claude-haiku-5-5.
Haiku 5.5 is available through Anthropic and on Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. Anthropic also cut Sonnet 5.5 cache-read pricing from $0.20 to $0.10 per million tokens. The company estimates that change lowers the cost of most agentic Sonnet workloads by about 20%, while estimating Haiku 5.5 averages about 75% less cost per task than Haiku 4.5. Those percentages depend on Anthropic’s workload and tokenization assumptions.
A capable model at this price could materially change the economics of routing, repetitive automation and multi-agent systems. Anthropic reports substantial benchmark improvements over Haiku 4.5, but the comparisons and customer examples on the launch page remain provider-reported. Independent evaluation should measure the exact production model’s quality, output speed, task cost and safety before it receives any AIQuantumScore benchmark or REVAL result.
